When it comes to drainage problems, GEWS Ltd offers a range of expertise equipment and fully qualified operatives to ensure the work is completed to a high standard with a minimal disruption to your home or business. High pressure jetting provides the perfect application to access blockages in hard-to-reach places. It is also used to break down and flush away grease and loose debris which often contributes to blocked drainage. If roots are found to be the cause of a blockage, then water propelled spinning root cutters can be used to slowly trim back root intrusion back to full capacity.
We can also deal with the clean-up of overspilled sewage following a blocked drain. This will include wash down and disinfection of the affected area, including removal of any debris.
Silt is a common problem in drains, a result of matter building up inside the pipes which often lead to slow flow, blockages or hydraulic overload following heavy rain. Having your drains regularly de-silted ensures that silt does not build up and solidify in the system, resulting in service and structural issues. We have a range of specialist vehicles and equipment to suit any drain size, any access, any terrain, even those hard-to-reach areas. Our units are capable of desilting small diameter drains to large sewer and culverts, ranging from 150mm to 1,500mm drains. We have the capability for off road /remote access utilising a tracked remote reel and tractor mounted units. For larger diameters, man access can also be arranged.
Root infiltration from nearby trees or plants is one of the most common causes of blockages in drainage system. If the roots have penetrated the pipework and has entered the system, over time, this can cause a build-up of rags and silt which leads to blockages. Minor root infiltration can sometimes be resolved by high pressure water jetting alone but most cases a root cutter will be required. We have a range of root cutting equipment to accommodate various pipe sizes to ensure a running system. It is important that any roots within a drainage system is dealt with quickly as in addition to blockages, if left untreated, roots can cause much serious structural damage such as cracks, holes and displacements.
This service provides a simple and cost effective diagnosis of any problems, as by using specialist equipment on site, the footage can be observed directly on the screen by the homeowner resulting in having the ability to let you see what we see - we will show and tell you exactly the condition of your drainage system there and then as we are carrying out the survey. Fault and defects, if any, can be observed and recommendations can be discussed on site.
By carrying out a full CCTV survey, a written report with pictures and figures is automatically produced and will be sent out to the client within 2 working days. The report is accompanied with a copy of the footage on disk so you can see for yourself if there are any faults or defects. The full CCTV survey is carried out to the local water board specification and is usually the type of report that would normally be necessary as video evidence for drainage related insurance claims. If required, a follow up report containing recommendations for repairs can be produced.
Many people buying a new home assume that when a surveyor carries out a full homebuyer or building survey to check the condition of the property, they also cover the drains - but this is not the case! The surveyor only lifts the drain covers to inspect the condition of the manhole but cannot be certain of any defects within the drainage system. This is where we can help! Using specialist Drain Survey equipment, we can identify defects at their earliest stages to save your clients money and prevent more work and costs in the future!
Many mortgage companies now request drain surveys from prospective purchasers. Why not make the sale of your home swifter by arranging for a survey to be undertaken and have the information ready to produce to a buyer so as to avoid delays later down the line? Finding out that you have problems with your drains when completion of sale is imminent could delay the purchase, or in worst case, result in the sale falling through.
Where inspection cameras cannot enter the drain, we can test the flow and direction of the drain by means of environmentally friendly coloured dye.
GEWS offers a range of septic tank de-sludging services, these services are available to householders who own a private septic tank which takes standard waste, such as sewage and waste water. We continually aim to deliver a high service level to all our customers. Septic tank located remotely in fields can be serviced with our off-road tractor and tanker unit. We also offer a contract service, where we will de-sludge your septic tank at yearly intervals. A planned schedule of regular de-sludging services helps to keep your charges - and our costs – down, which is passed on to our customers with discounted rates. GEWS Ltd can also undertake Septic Tank surveys to provide the householder with a regular report on the physical condition of their septic tank (and also where possible the drainage field).
PLEASE NOTE – when “emptying” or de-sludging your septic tank there is always a residual amount of sludge left behind to seed the tank with the suitable bacteria to digest the effluent and kick start the process of treatment. Dependant on the nature of your system and the drainage field ( soak –away) the amount of liquid within the septic tank can return to “ as before” level quickly.
